Accessibility Statement

"Mapa LaNefesh" places great importance on making its information accessible to the whole public, including people with disabilities. We work to align the site with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines at level AA, which underlie Israeli standard IS 5568 and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013.

Accessibility adjustments implemented on the site

• Keyboard navigation for every interface component, including a "Skip to main content" link.
• Focus trapping in dialogs, which close with the Esc key. On closing, focus returns to the component that opened the dialog.
• A clear, high-contrast focus indicator on every interactive component.
• Screen-reader support: a hierarchical heading structure, ARIA descriptions for dynamic components, and announced status and error messages.
• The list view as an accessible alternative to the map. The list includes every service — including nationwide services that have no geographic location and therefore never appear on the map at all.
• Service type is conveyed in text, not by color alone: every map marker has an accessible name including the service's name and category, cluster markers have an accessible name including the number of services in the group, and every result card carries a text label.
• Color contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text, and at least 3:1 for interface component borders.
• Tap targets of at least 24 pixels in the site's interface components, meeting WCAG 2.2 level AA (most components are considerably larger; see the known limitations regarding a few individual controls).
• A 16-pixel base font size, with support for zooming up to 200% without loss of content or horizontal scrolling.
• Respect for the system preference to reduce animation (prefers-reduced-motion).
• Full adaptation for mobile phones, including bottom navigation and enlarged touch areas.

Known accessibility limitations

We list here, transparently, the limitations not yet resolved:

• The interactive map is based on a third-party component (Leaflet) that is not fully accessible to screen readers and keyboard navigation. All of the map's information is fully available in the list view, and we recommend screen-reader users use it.
• The map's zoom buttons (from the same third-party component) are smaller than 44 pixels.
• Some filter controls (chips) and the button that switches between the children's and adults' maps are smaller than 44 pixels (they meet the 24-pixel requirement of WCAG 2.2 level AA). We are working to enlarge them.
• The site has not been audited by an external certified accessibility auditor; it has been checked internally only — manually and with automated tools.
• The English edition is a translation of the Hebrew site; some content submitted by the community may appear in Hebrew until translated.

How accessibility was tested

Accessibility was checked in internal tests covering full keyboard navigation, measured contrast ratios, tap-target size measurement, and inspection of the heading structure and ARIA descriptions. The latest check was performed in August 2026. The site is operated by a private individual, not an organization, so it has no organizational accessibility program or appointed accessibility coordinator.
