Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This English page is a courtesy translation of the Hebrew privacy policy. In any case of discrepancy, the Hebrew version is the binding one.
"Mapa LaNefesh" is a community project operated on a volunteer basis by a private individual. We take your privacy seriously, and built the site so that browsing it requires no registration and is not identified. This document explains what information is collected, why, with whom it is shared, and how to exercise your rights. The Terms of Use also apply.
Browsing the map β anonymous
- Viewing the map and the services requires no registration. We do not ask for or store your name or email address in order to view the map.
- Your acknowledgment of the legal disclaimer is stored in your browser. In addition, we keep only an anonymous counter β a timestamp with no identifying detail, for aggregate visit counting. We do not store IP addresses for tracking.
- We use no analytics tools, pixels or tracking cookies, and we do not build a user profile.
Information collected when you contact us
Personal information is collected only if you choose to fill in one of the site's forms. All form fields are deliberately minimal, and the information is used solely for the purpose for which it was provided:
- "Suggest a service" and "Report an error" forms: name and email (both optional) β used so we can get back to you to clarify the report and update you if you asked. The service details you propose (organization name, phone, website, etc.) are intended for publication on the map.
- "Contact" form: topic, name, reply email, and a short message (up to 200 characters). Used to reply to your message.
- Email-updates signup: email address (required) and, optionally, name, whether you are a professional and your field, workplace, region and the service types that interest you. Signup requires double opt-in (a code sent to the address), and can be removed at any time from the link at the bottom of every message.
The forms are not a channel for personal messages or distress, and are not read in real time. If you write in distress, an automatic referral to the helplines will appear.
Cookies and local storage
We use no cookies. To remember preferences, the site stores in your browser only (localStorage) operational details: your acknowledgment of the disclaimer, the map you chose (children/adults) and whether you have seen the latest update notice. This information is not sent to us and does not identify you.
Who the information is shared with (processors)
- Google Firebase β the site and data are hosted on Google's cloud services in the European Union region (europe-west1).
- Resend β an email delivery service (a US company), through which acknowledgments and updates are sent. This means the contact details you provided are transferred outside Israel, for the purpose of responding only.
We do not sell personal information and do not transfer it to third parties for advertising.
How long information is kept
The contact details you provide are kept for as long as needed to handle and document your request, and are deleted on your request. Subscriber details are kept until the subscription is removed. The anonymous counters contain no identifying details. Email verification codes are deleted automatically within minutes.
Your rights
Under Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, 1981 (as amended), you have the right to review the information stored about you, to request its correction, and to request its deletion. To exercise any of these rights β or to remove your personal details appearing on the map β contact us through the contact form (topic: "Removal from the map / privacy request"). We will handle the request promptly. The site's databases are small and are not of a type requiring registration.
Data security
Access to personal information is limited to the site operator and protected by standard cloud security measures. However, no system is completely immune, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Minors
The forms are intended for adults and those aged 14 and over. We proactively avoid collecting personal information about minors, and the form fields are built so that no identifying free-text is collected. A minor under 14 is asked not to provide personal details without a parent's consent.
Information about services published on the map
Some service cards include contact details of care providers, collected from public sources and public reports. We avoid publishing a personal mobile number without a documented public source or consent. A provider appearing on the map, or a person whose details appear on it, may request the correction or removal of their details at any time β through the contact form (topic: "Removal from the map / privacy request").
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The binding text is the one published on the Hebrew privacy page, and the date at its top indicates the latest update.
